Moved my blog for a few reasons I might name later to google's blog sight. Figured if they are taking over the world might as well blog about it with them.
This last weekend I took a trip to L.A. I had a lot of fun. Its nice to get a little change of scenery, everything gets worn out in the city you live when all you want is adventure or purpose. Seeing the same things everyday and working at a job just to earn money all seem boring to me. The main reason I have not blogged lately I think is because when I have free time I tend to choose to read, hang out with people, or watch the beautiful new T.V. we have instead of write. Now this is a very bad decision when you want to be a writer, but still it is one I make quite frequently.
Here is a list of things I have done recently:
Worked long hours.
Watched Phantom of the Opera at the Civic Theater downtown.
Gone to L.A. for the weekend (For cousin Beth's wedding... No I do not have a cousin Beth)
Finished Reading Watchmen Which was surprisingly amazing. Let me give a quick explanation of it here. Watchmen is widely regarded as the greatest graphic novel of all time and one of the top 50 books of our era.I have never read a graphic novel before this one, but its premise and the fact that it is being made into a movie enticed me. The screenplay for the movie was said to be one of the most difficult adaptions ever written and that interested me as well. Also I thought it was time I could look at some pictures.
Visited both the WGA and DGA buildings in L.A. both really cool maybe I will be part of one or both someday.
Racked in debt which is what a good american is supposed to do right?
Bought a new novel by one of the last great boom writers who died in 1998.
Set up my Paypal account.
Watched a lot of olympics.
On other notes I am not sure what I can really say or what I want to write. See the other reason I do not blog a lot anymore is because I normally blog about things going wrong in the world, injustices, and/or weird stuff however when I have people around to talk to it is sometimes just easier to talk about it and normally when I finish talking about whats bothering me I then feel no need to be redundant and blog about it as well.
I do want to say tha I thought Bush at the opening ceremonies was ridiculous. I mean here he is at an event I would love to attend. It was one of the best opening ceremonies ever and the best I have ever seen, and here is the "Leader of the Free World???" half asleep looking at his watch. Just hope we don't elect the guy this time who is so old he will probably be asleep before the ceremonies even start.
New cartoon Star Wars Movie comes out I think this Friday. It is a weird turn and one many are not to happy about. I watched the little clone wars cartoon series on Cartoon Network a few years ago and it was good, but not worthy of the big screen. Lets just hope they did this well and most people will be happy with it then.
New Mummy Movie has a so-so script as far as summer blockbusters go. Still better than the atrousicous Hellboy 2. It lacked the same feeling we all got when we watched the old Mummy movies. The mix of feeling like your interested in the story as much as the action and girls. The acting in the first two was great as well. The characters complemented each other. In the third movie you just do not feel this connection between the new Evy and Rick. Although the Maria Bello gives a good preformance she doesnt capture the spirit that Rachel Weisz gave to the character in the first two films. It is like the replacement of Katie Holmes in The Dark Knight, Katie Holmes was more attractive and better at the role however it did not take away from the film and I still really like Maggie Gyllenhaal in movies such as Stranger than Fiction.
hmmmm...... Looks like I wrote something at least.
The Road
On Writing
A Good Year
All I seem to want to do recently is relax. Work has worn me out. The three days off were a great recovery from the seven days straight four of which were eight our cart pushing shifts. I dream of places far and of places near. Seattle, Portland, Venice, Scotland, Rome, Bhutan, Panama, New York, Spain, even places as close as LA entice me. However it seems impossible to have free time and money at the same time since they are essentially the same thing.
I want to write things, but it seems hard. I can not just sit down and write random ideas I have yet, because I do not even know where to start most of the time nor do I have the courage to just write anything at all. Blogging is really the best outlet, because it makes me feel semi productive and completely incompetent at the same time. I want to blog short stories soon just first need to work on writing the short stories or coming up with the ideas for the stories.
For right not I am going to go and do some reading, to all those out there writing tonight I hope you feel more alive than I do, being cut off from the easygoing style of writing I like, I only hope that forcing the writing will work like so many authors say they have to.
I got so sidetracked... I wrote all that three hours or so ago and I had finally gotten a grove and knew what I was going to say and now all I want to do is sleep.
oh and fuck people who use ... when it makes no sense fucking Jon.
I have come up with an astounding new theory which is almost sure to revolutionize the way in which we look at ourselves and our fellow human beings who supposedly walk amongst us. This theory came in a way which is completely impossible to understand except by the other people who have had the privilege of being the mere vessel of theories that were destined to change the world. It was a moment of astounding clarity and emotional arousal at the plain and obvious fact that this had not simply occurred to me before.
My theory which I will soon trademark once I prove to them its originality(so do not try and steal it) is called simply: The world theory of parking lots- What exactly is this theory you are asking yourself? It is made up of three parts
1. The world is not enough- We constantly want more... When I see a parking space open near the back which I would normally happily accept I am sometimes want more and become daring, I venture out to see if I can find the a space in a closer more convenient space. In doing so I risk the chance of forever losing the security I once had in the cushy spot at the back. I have come to realize that this rule is relevant to somewhere between 1/5 and 5/5 of the people of this world.
2. A person working at the place in which I am shopping is my slave and therefore should be building me a great wall, some pyramids or something of equal value. - When asking to do something I have deemed about 8/16ish of people believe that common courtesy does not apply to those of obvious less social standing then me since they are working while I am shopping.
3. Dancing in the rain makes you wet- If it is an uncomfortable day or a pleasant day outside it must be discussed with people you hardly know before proceeding to anything else, when relevant it is also very good to throw in a simple pinch of advice which is commonly known. For instance if you want to ask someone to help you take something to you car the sentence might go something like "Hey its really hot out here you must be sweating a lot, you should make sure you stay hydrated, oh yea can you help me take this to my car." another example would be confusing the person, when it is 102 degrees or more outside you can try and convince the person they have gone insane by saying something like " Sheesh its cold out here better put on my sweater before, you help me take this stuff to my car. Oh and you should wear gloves when its this cold out or else you might get frostbite." This rule is one that applies to 6/7 people who are randomly selected from a specific sample.
4. Most people have not danced with the devil in the pale moonlight - as simple as it sounds really people do not like to dance by natural light.
5. You do not need to see my identification- Jedi mind tricks work on the VERY VERY gulliable about 3.1415% of the time.
This was fun while I was bored but not I must go run errands....
A great read I would suggest to anyone; however if you work in an office building I think it is a must read. The book is by Joshua Ferris and it is around 380 pages. It is a hilarious book which shows the best and worst of peoples characters. It pokes fun out the crazy little quirks we all have and the way in which these quirks become a safe way in which we like to describe ourselves.
Title: Playing for Pizza
Author: John Grisham
Pages: close to 300
Summary/ Comments: It does not have that strong must turn the page to see how it turns out aspect. However I still loved this book, it was a nice read and it is one of those books that will just make you happy reading it. The ending was good and the last hundred or so pages made me love the book. It is set in Italy as well which made me love it even more because I can not wait to visit there. I would suggest it to anyone really, its an easy read and an overall pleasant book exactly the type of book that John Grisham writes with supreme skill.
Title: First Among Sequels
Pages: 383
Summary: Pretty much like any other book of the Thursday Next series. It was good and I enjoyed it a lot, however it was not as amazing as Something Rotten. Still I would suggest this series.
Title: Him, Her, Him Again, The End of Him
Author: Patricia Marx
Pages: 217
Summary: A very funny book about a girl studying to be an English grad student at Cambridge. She becomes infatuated with a man and can not get over him. Patricia is a good author and she has written for the New Yorkers and New York Times, and is a writer for SNL, so you really can not go wrong reading this book. Was a little weak at the end in my opinion but that might have just been since I was tired from sitting in the airport for like 9 hours.
As i sit here waiting for my mom to get home so I can take her car. We try and make no noises to make sure we do not disturb my dad in the other room. Jason has taken to trying to go to sleep which he is doing with some skill. I have decided to blog and text emmy.
Being back is really nice, but its hard trying to get everything sorted back in my room. I want to redo it before I unpack but it is difficult since I have all this dirty laundry and other things I need to unpack and start taking care of.
FYI I am tired of answering the questions of where I plan to get a job and what I plan to do next year. The first one is a simple, I am applying at Barnes and Nobles, Borders, and maybe cosco. I am also considering working on the political campaigns I am going to call those people and see what exactly I would be doing and then decide on that. For schools next year I found out even though I have enough units to be a junior I am technically not. (Must be noted that I finished two years of school in one year though so my grandparents and ryan owe me money) anyways so I will most likely be going to community college for a year and then transferring somewhere with good writing and history programs. I actually have no problem being that far away nor do I have a problem with the area of humboldt but depending on what I want to do it will GREATLY benefit me if i decide to transfer to a school with more prestige (I hate that by the way because i think that the vast majority of four years give you the same education).
My mom is still not home...
To do list over next week must keep adding to it.:
1. Find a Job
2. Talk to the Miramar counselors
3. Schedule a doctors appt.
4. Finish reading Playing for Pizzia
5. Update my book list on this site.
6. Fix the sink in the front bathroom
Mom is home now so i am leaving.
Somewhat intoxicated at the time:
"I am the math major... on call, I mean if math majors were like doctors and important in any way, I would be the mathematician on call."
Remind me to make a list of the reasons why I am insane sometime.
